The National Institutes of Health recently published a study highlighting the efficacy of CDP, titled “Computerized Dynamic Posturography for Postural Control Assessment in Patients with Intermittent Claudication.” Within this article, CDP is used as a way to assess balance in claudicants and determine whether or not it is an effective method of treatment.

The article illustrates from the very beginning that “the early detection of postural deficits is important so that appropriate and targeted interventions can be prescribed.” Computerized Dynamic Posturography, which according to the authors is instrumental in “measuring postural strategies under challenging static and dynamic conditions” is a highly effective way to do just that.

Throughout the discussion of the article, it is reiterated that patients who received treatments based on CDP yielded the most positive results for their condition. The authors conclude:

“The assessment of postural control is important in individuals who have a higher susceptibility to falls, often because of aging or disease. Computerized dynamic posturography is a unique technique in that the sensory systems responsible for balance can be challenged through separate protocols that systematically differentiate between impairments.”
